The Essentials, Part 2-08: Traumatic Hand Injuries and Prosthetics


This interactive course is designed to provide the novice hand therapist to the more experienced hand therapist knowledge about the anatomical structures affected by, the pathological processes involved, and management of traumatic hand injuries including selection of prosthetics.

Teaching methods for this course include course content delivered in text format, animation, graphics, and live web links.  To pass the course learners must successfully complete the final exam at the end of the course with a minimum passing score of 80%.

Upon completion of this course, the Learner will be able to:

  • Describe various medical and therapeutic interventions for the traumatic hand injury.

  • Identify various levels of upper extremity amputation and types of prosthetic devices for upper extremity amputations.

  • Describe interventions for those patients receiving a prosthetic device.
